We just moved to La Center and went here for Taco Tuesday/Thursday on the recommendation of our relator. It was was pretty empty in the bar and restaurant, but don't let that deter you from coming in. The taco specials are worth it! I was surprised to see that they offer different types of tacos for their special. Most places only do ground beef. It was a pleasant surprise to have a chicken and a carne asada option (for only slight more than the ground beef option). They have a small selection of beer (local options on tap is a plus!) and a full bar. I will definitely be back for more taco specials and to check out their entree options.

I'll give it four just cuz there aren't many reviews fir restaurants here .. Food was good .. Pretty good actually. Great prices, great drink specials, generous portions, big bowl of chips and good salsa, and great service. Wait... The four stars is deserved. Our waiter signaled his trips to the table by the coins jingling in his pockets. He was busting his butt to keep his tables happy! Nice!!!

We live in La Center and used to drive to Woodland to the sister Restaurant there, so we were happy when they started one up right here in town ! They do have a Bar Menu in the Bar, but not actually a specific Happy Hour time or Happy Hour food per say. The food is the very good, lots to chose from and always tastes fresh. We eat there often and I'm sure when business picks up they will of course add more pictures and such to authenticate the decor. All in all, it's great food for a great price.

Worst Mexican food in the World. The food and service here are a joke. I have given this place three chances and every time it failed on multiple fronts. Where to start?? Several reviewers discuss the bad service. It is horrendous. My wife and I ate here recently and were seated after a few minutes. The waitress brought chips, salsa, and bean dip and disappeared for 15 minutes before she asked if we wanted water. What were we supposed to do? Drink the salsa to quench our thirst? The food is even worse. The menu has about 100 items on it. We have tried several and they were equal to a bad TV dinner. The menu should be reduced to about 15-20 items. The food should be authentic and fresh, not from a can. The tortilla soup was the worst I have ever eaten. Two bites and I stopped. They used old chicken fajita strips instead of pulled chicken. A no-no. The seafood soup they make uses frozen vegetables, the carrots have the machine cut marks. The salsa is not hot and not good. The cooks would never serve this food to their grandmothers so why do they serve it to the public?? The place should serve authentic food like pozole, menudo, street tacos, tortas, ceviche, etc. This is a disgrace to Hispanic culture and I am shocked that this place is still open in La Center. Improve your service, make authentic food, or you will be out of business amigos!

Our dinner at Casa Tapatia was better than I expected, given some of the small-town Mexican food that I've experienced the last few years. Plenty of chips, salsa, and refried bean & cheese dip to start (the bean dip was great for kids, not at all spicy), good fajitas, standard beans & rice, standard margarita. The Chile Colorado tasted good, though they seem to have found some heat-free Chiles to use in the dish--I was hoping for more zip. Plenty of flour or corn tortillas to accompany our main dishes. Given the paucity of restaurants in La Center, we'd probably be stopping there often, if it weren't for the prices. Most dishes seemed a few dollars more than I would have expected. For example, burritos were over $10. The Chile Colorado was around $13. Kids's meal price was typical, at around $5, but then it was almost $2 to add a soda to it. And I was surprised to find an extra $4 had been tacked onto our bill when we asked for a little more fajita fixings. We had trouble even spotting the guacamole and salsa cruda that originally came with the dish. Maybe the high prices are the small town or Casino markups? Perhaps their usual patrons are flush with their winnings from one of the neighboring casinos. At least the service was good. And the decor was inoffensive, restrained Mexican, with a few missing paintings. I dunno, we might go back. Maybe after our big Casino win.

Worst service ever. It doesn't matter if you're the only people in the place!! Good food & drinks, when you can finally get some.

I have eaten here at least a dozen times since moving here. Yes, the service is not the best. A few of the waitresses are pretty surly and generally just seem very unhappy to be here. The free chips and salsa are decent and they are not stingy with a re supply. Once your order is placed, it comes out pretty quick. I imagine everything is pre-made and heated to order. This seems to be the trend of a lot of the Mexican establishments I have been to in the area. Couple things to keep in mind, I don't eat seafood at Mexican restaurants and I don't do Mexican style soup. If I ever decided to try either for the first time, I do not think it would be here. My wife and I have found a few decent items on the menu and we don't stray from those and all seems to be well. Although I have sent a plate back because I think someone spilled something in the enchilada sauce. I was overwhelmed with some really odd tasting seasoning. Of note, I didn't have any problems sending my plate back and they were prompt bringing a replacement Carne asada street tacos, burritos, the fajitas (not the shrimp) and enchiladas seem to be safe bets here.

My family and I just moved to La Center a couple weeks ago, so we tried this place last night on the (horrible) recommendation from a friend. We brought in a party of eight and the food was honestly the worst Mexican food I've ever tasted. Couple that with some of the worst service and you can see why I left a one star review. All eight of us had stomach pains all night after leaving this place. I strongly recommend not eating here.

The food is decent and you get a lot of it.. But the service! Its terrible! Very rude and impatient. The food is not worth dealing with the service. Avoid if possible!

Meh. Big platters of so-so, uninspired Mexican food. Slow resentful service at times. It could stand to be a little less expensive with a little bit higher quality food and definitely an update to the tired menu options. I live so close that we might go here all the time if it was actually good.

While visiting my big sis in La Center, WA we decided to try the new Mexican spot in the minuscule downtown. I grew up in AZ. So, I'm a bit of a Mexican food snob. The establishment is clean and bright. Our server was very attentive. Awesome chips, salsa and refried been dip. Just like back home! I had Chicken enchiladas suizas. And, they were really tasty. My sister and her family had some standbys: burritos, tostadas and steak fajitas. All were large portions. They must have been out of peppers though because my brother in law got mostly onions with his steak fajitas.

This is the best Mexican food in the area, which includes Woodland and Battleground. The tacos are just like you would get in Mexico. You can ask to have them prepared the way you like them and they're perfect. The service is great. Juan is a great host. Only thing lacking here is cosmetic, hence the 4 stars instead of 5.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
